This website is primarily for former students, HR activists with interests in Religion, and my recent project for the Henry Luce III Foundation Fellowship in Theology, 2008-09, where I served as a Theological Embed at Pass-a-Grille Community Church (UCC) in Pass-a-Grille, Florida.
Prof. Fontaine is the Taylor Professor of Biblical Theology and History at Andover Newton Theological School in Newton, MA. She is author or co-editor of 7 books (two more in progress), and nearly one hundred articles on women and justice in the Biblical world. She has appeared as a Content Expert (Talking Head) on the A & E Network, the History Channel, the Discovery Channel, as well as serving on numerous editorial boards in Biblical Studies.
Fontaine has been working in the Human Rights field with Muslim women since 1999, and sits on the governing boards of several international NGOs having to do with freedom of religion for women, especially in the Middle East. Her special areas of interest are women in Iran, Human Rights and Theological Discourse, and progressive Christianity as a ‘warrant’ for a Human Rights approach to all social and cultural affairs. She uses her interests in graphic arts and wearable art (polymer clay; crystal and trade beads) to support her work.
